Therapy is often misconceived as an intervention for those who can’t handle problems on their own. However, we all have blind spots around our own experience because that’s all we’ve ever known. The power of therapy, and the reason everyone can benefit from it greatly, is that it allows us to dissect our own experience through mindful relationship. The goal is to discover what courses of action feel best for you, based on the unique, beautiful qualities that you already possess. If we can be willing to face areas in life that have been difficult, scary, or simply unknown, therapy is the best possible way to grow into who we would like to be. My intention is to create a safe environment where we can highlight what this might look like, and outline steps towards a more fulfilling life.

"Still, what I want in my life is to be willing to be dazzled -- to cast aside the weight of facts and maybe even to float a little above this difficult world."
~ Mary Oliver
We are all on this human journey and sometimes it can feel overwhelming and hard. My approach it to help lighten the steps along the path and breathe air into those cramped spaces that reside within us. I draw from psychodynamic, relational, gestalt, and humanistic approaches in my work. I have a former background in dance and like to incorporate movement and bodily awareness.
Therapy is a process of igniting what works, what is strong and beautiful in us, as much as it is about resolving old hurt and holding compassion for ourselves through our struggles. These shifts that therapy can facilitate help to create greater room for happiness, authenticity and a deeper sense understanding. Psychotherapy offers a chance to slow down, to step out of your daily life, into a realm that is created just for you. Therapy is sacred space, a powerful investment in your self and in your relationships.

"Put your future in good hands - your own."
~ Author Unknown
Pain, loss, and life’s challenges can cause us to put up walls and harden ourselves so that we are protected the next time hurt and rejection come along. By getting curious about life and the pain we experience, we can move into our broken heartedness. In the collaborative process of therapy, my goal is to assist you in accessing your own channels of strength and in becoming an active agent in your own healing. Self-acceptance can help us move through the painful experiences and challenging transitions we face in life. With compassion and empathy, I offer a safe and supportive environment where you can experience yourself, just as you are.

Struggle is an inherent part of life, but there are times when that struggle overshadows the joyful side of life. We feel stuck, lost, or overwhelmed by our feelings and life circumstances. Our work, relationships and enjoyment of life all suffer. Psychotherapy helps us understand and work through the obstacles keeping us from living the life we want and being who we want to be in the world.
My psychotherapy practice stems from a decade long corporate career in NYC and Europe. I utilize my experience in training and cultivating teams to now facilitate individual personal growth and healing. I provide a safe environment and a practical, compassionate and encouraging approach allowing you to gain insight into your challenges and difficulties. I work with people in a variety of areas including relationship issues, job stress, anxiety, depression, healing from loss, and life transitions.
Therapy is a special opportunity to understand yourself more deeply and make changes that can help you to live a more fulfilling life. Our work together will support you in creating the life, career and relationships that you most deeply desire.

My approach to psychotherapy is to participate with and assist you in vital learning which can be integrated into everyday life. Managing life and meeting society's non-stop demands can be difficult. Eventually, such pressures can accumulate and strain our ability to experience the happiness and joys of life. My goal is to work with you in regaining control of and taking back your life. Building stronger relationships, discovering and developing core strengths to better deal with stress, anxiety, depression or interpersonal conflict will help shed some of the emotional burden that may be weighing far too heavily. Our work will be based on integrity, unconditional acceptance and positive regard for you, the individual.

I was born and raised in Israel and came to the US to pursue my graduate studies in Psychology. In Israel, I worked for seven years in various organizations with youth and adults in distress, as well as for three years in the social justice field. I love to work with clients from various cultural backgrounds.
My approach is grounded in traditional western psychology, as well as transpersonal and somatic modalities such as Somatic Experiencing and Hakomi. I am deeply inspired by Eastern and shamanic spiritual traditions. I am particularly interested in trauma work.
Together, we will explore the patterns that created your life experiences and through the client therapist relationship we will develop creative ways to bring liveliness and meaning to your life. Your inner exploration is the essence of the healing that will reconnect you to your wisdom, compassion and creativity that are the roots of your being. I invite you to bring to therapy your dreams, interpersonal and personal issues and anything else that is part of you. Therapy is available in Hebrew in addition to English. Looking forward to meet you!

"The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction not a destination."
~ Carl Rogers
Life can be hard. Sometimes we need extra support. It is my passion to connect deeply with people in the hopes that through the power of connection you will feel supported and held. You don’t have to struggle alone. The therapeutic relationship can offer profound healing.
The therapeutic process is an exploration through which your self-awareness grows and you feel empowered. Together we work towards transformation by listening for your inner wisdom. I aim to create a safe space where you feel totally accepted and can move beyond any self-judgment that keeps you stuck.
My own journey of healing and growth has been transformational, and I continue to be inspired by human potential. I received a B.A. in Religious Studies from Naropa University. I have been greatly influenced by the healing power of the creative arts, music and dance. My experiences working with youth, attending meditation retreats, teaching dance and traveling the world have informed my path of becoming a therapist.
I work with a client-centered and relational style, informed by self-psychology and Hakomi. I am open to exploring whatever comes up, and have particular interest in depression, anxiety, life transition & purpose, self-esteem and relationship & spiritual issues. I work with individuals, couples, children and families.
Let’s get down to the business of figuring out how to live this life to the fullest, shall we?

"By sharing the stories of our inner lives, we recover who we are and prepare ourselves for transformation."
~ Steve Silberman
There is one thing that every person who seeks out therapy has in common, the desire for change. We are born whole, but somehow in the process of growing up, we lose sight of the essence of our being. I believe a key benefit of therapy is the reclamation of that wholeness.
I’m from the Bay Area and worked for a couple of years in the tech world before deciding to pursue my Masters in Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies. In addition to my studies, I have also completed a two-year comprehensive training with Hakomi Institute of California. Hakomi is a form of body centered somatic psychotherapy that utilizes compassion, curiosity and mindfulness as tools in the exploration of the client’s experience. My work is also influenced by the latest developments in neuropsychological research, attachment theory and object relations. I believe the common thread throughout these modalities is that each attempts to uncover the truth of who we are through the stories we tell with our words, actions and our bodies. I look forward to engaging with you and supporting you in your journey of transformation.

"Often it is the wounds and tragedies of life that provide the impetus to make the inward journey.”
~ Brant Cortright in Psychotherapy and Spirit
We all get lost sometimes and find ourselves searching for meaning. It takes a tremendous amount of courage and strength to engage in self-inquiry. While delving into one's own depths can be intimidating, it is also intensely rewarding and can lead to a more fulfilling existence. Our wounds, if unexamined, can prevent us from reaching our full potential in this life.
Therapy is a mechanism that provides hope for a better life.
Being witnessed in one's process can be profoundly healing. In our therapy, I will follow your lead. I will provide a space that is yours. I work relationally, so our relationship will be a gateway to understanding the way you relate to others in your life.
I draw from psychodynamic, humanistic, object relational and intersubjective models of therapy to guide my work. Early experiences and family dynamics affect the way we perceive and experience the world. I believe that we all possess the resources necessary to heal, to develop new ways of relating. Often, we just need the space and support to experience our emotions, to grieve our losses and to celebrate our successes. I am honored to bear witness to your process of self -transformation.

I can help you with your relationship issues, addiction, depression, anxiety, grief and trauma. I also understand issues of spirituality, sexuality, culture and loss. In my 48 years I have had to deal and cope with all of these issues and other intense adversity, as well. I have developed a strong level of consciousness and understanding of how to deal with these situations in a way that helps me find great joy and peace of mind. You don’t need to continue to suffer from your struggles with these issues for the rest of your life.
I CAN HELP YOU.
I CAN HELP YOU HELP YOURSELF.
Lydia Stevens
"If one is walking through an alien jungle, one needs to be with someone who knows how to traverse that terrain without running into danger or going in circles. But the guide does not need to know where the two parties will emerge from the wilderness; he or she has only the means to make the journey safe."
~ Nancy Mcwilliams
Every individual has his or her own, distinct path to psychological growth. I strive to help my clients find their path by helping them get in touch with their inner wisdom. I believe that people are fundamentally good, and that the true essence of each person is beautiful in a unique way. Somewhere within our psyches we know the ways in which we need to heal, but often times this truth is hidden from our awareness. Therapy can help us to uncover this truth.
As humans, we develop different defenses and coping mechanisms to help us deal with what life hands to us. These defenses can often make it difficult to get in touch with our true essence. My intention is to guide clients in the process of learning how to let these defenses go, and remember the nature of their true being.

Through my personal healing journey and a ten-year career in educational fields, I came to realize that physical, mental, and spiritual aspects of life are closely interconnected, which propelled me towards graduate studies in Psychotherapy at CIIS. It inspired me to learn about healing from various perspectives, including western schools of psychology, transpersonal psychology, somatic approaches such as Hakomi, and world’s spiritual teachings.
Life is full of challenges. We get stuck in different places in life. Our hearts know the path to happiness and inner peace, and therapy can help us connect with our inner wisdom. My hope is to help you break free from your self-judgments, support you to find your own truth to be who you really are, beyond who you have thought yourself to be, and to learn how to make healthy contact with yourself, others, and the world.
Gandhi said, “Your beliefs become your thoughts, Your thoughts become your words, Your words become your actions, Your actions become your habits, Your habits become your values, Your values become your destiny.” I believe that we can always change our destiny by re-evaluating our thoughts, words, actions, habits, and values.
I believe that therapy is about living, itself – a journey into yourself. I look forward to beginning the heart-opening journey with you! Born and raised in Okinawa, Japan, therapy is available in Japanese, in addition to English.

Therapy is a process. It's a living and breathing evolution in understanding. And self-discovery is both the journey and the destination.
Curiosity about yourself, and the desire to understand the way your world works, is the jumping-off point. What is your primary way of knowing what you know? What are your defenses and where do they come from? What is your range of emotions and how do they serve you? What drives you, and what holds you back?
Heightening our own awareness of our intentions, our triggers, assumptions we make, and patterns we repeat, gives us a keener sense of our strengths, limitations, and purpose. Change is a constant - in the universe-at-large, and in our personal sets of circumstances. In asking (and answering) these questions of ourselves, we develop our own unique set of tools to adapt, cope, heal and thrive. "What we're conscious of, we control. What we're unconscious of controls us." (Anonymous)
My areas of special focus include sex workers, sexuality and gender, body image, and personal and family relationships. The space we'll create together will be one of non-judgment and unconditional understanding. And you will set the direction, pace and boundaries of our conversation.
So, whenever you're ready, come on in. Have a seat. I'm looking forward to knowing you.

Through our psychotherapeutic relationship you will see yourself more clearly so that you are able to make informed choices and experience less suffering. Together we allow space for you to speak your truth. Working with a variety of modalities, I tailor the therapy to meet your specific needs, which often
change over time. We seek clues to unlock the secrets of your unconscious, uncover inner conflicts, and
create the life that you desire.
Key areas that we may explore, discover, integrate include:
- Identity – specializing in gay, queer and transgender identities and life transitions
- Relationships – communication and intimacy styles – experience with queer, polyamorous and BDSM relationships
- Addiction – blurred lines between self-exploration, self-care and self-destruction
- Sex – desire, fantasy, fulfillment – trauma, shame, blockages
- Spirituality – the divine beyond ego
- Unconscious – the unseen forces that drive us
My methods are informed and influenced by my diverse training in Transpersonal and Integral Psychotherapy, Object Relations, Lacanian Psychoanalysis and Buddhism. My work as a therapist is deepened by my own challenges to know and express my authentic queer self and develop healthy relationships, often with the assistance of competent and caring psychotherapists. Equally important has been my spiritual practice rooted in awareness, radical acceptance and compassion, developed through my decades-long exploration of Eastern and Western spiritual and mystical traditions.
